Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when you use our website, book a stay or activity, and stay with us by Kimana Gate, Amboseli.
01About these terms
These Terms and Conditions apply when you use this website, send us an enquiry, book a stay or activity, or stay at Nyati Safari Camp by Kimana Gate, Amboseli, Kenya (“Nyati”, “we”, “us”). By making a booking or using our website, you agree to these terms.
Your booking confirmation may include specific details such as rates, deposit amounts, payment dates and cancellation charges for your stay. If anything in your confirmation differs from these terms, the confirmation applies.
02Using our website
You may use this website to learn about the camp and to contact or book with us. Please do not misuse it, for example by trying to break its security, sending spam through the forms or copying large parts of it.
We work to keep the information on this site accurate, including photos, room descriptions, activity details and prices. Things can change, so we will always confirm the details that apply to your stay in writing.
03Enquiries, quotes and rates
Room rates are given on request. When you send an enquiry or a booking request, we will check availability and send you a written quote, usually within 24 hours.
- A quote is not a booking. Rooms are not held until we confirm your booking in writing.
- Quotes are valid for the period stated on them. After that, rates and availability may change.
- Activity prices shown on the website, such as $50 per person for an evening sundowner or bush dinner and $20 per person for a nature walk, are a guide and will be confirmed in your quote.
04Making a booking
Your booking is confirmed when we have accepted it in writing (by email or WhatsApp) and received any deposit stated in your confirmation.
- The person who makes the booking must be at least 18 years old and is responsible for making sure everyone in their group agrees to these terms.
- Please check your confirmation carefully and tell us straight away if any details are wrong.
- If a tour operator, travel agent or driver books for you, their own terms may also apply to you.
05Payments
We accept Visa, Mastercard and M-Pesa. Deposit amounts and when the balance is due are shown in your booking confirmation.
- Prices are in the currency shown on your quote. If you pay in a different currency, the exchange rate and any bank or transfer charges are your responsibility.
- We may cancel a booking if a deposit or balance is not paid on time, after reminding you.
- Extras taken at camp, such as drinks, additional activities or souvenirs, are paid before you leave.
06Park fees
Amboseli National Park entry fees are not included in our rates unless your confirmation clearly says so. They are paid by guests directly at Kimana Gate, at the rates set by the park authorities at the time of your visit.
07Changes by you
If you want to change your dates, rooms or number of guests, contact us as early as possible. We will do our best to help, but changes depend on availability and may change the price. Reducing the length of your stay or the number of rooms may be treated as a part cancellation.
08Cancellations by you
To cancel, please tell us in writing by email or WhatsApp. The cancellation is effective from the date we receive it.
- Cancellation charges depend on how close to your arrival you cancel. The charges for your stay are set out in your booking confirmation.
- If you do not arrive (a “no-show”) or leave early, the full cost of the booked stay may be charged.
- Activities booked with outside operators, such as the hot air balloon safari, may have their own cancellation terms, which we will share with you.
09Changes and cancellations by us
We rarely need to change a confirmed booking. If we must, for example because of a serious problem at camp, we will tell you as soon as possible and offer a similar alternative or a full refund of what you have paid us for the affected part of your stay.
We are not responsible for travel costs, such as flights or transport, that you arranged separately.
10Check-in, check-out and arrival
Our reception is open 24/7. Standard check-in and check-out times are given in your booking confirmation. Early check-in and late check-out depend on availability and may carry a charge.
Please tell us your approximate arrival time, especially if you are arriving late. All guests must check in at reception, where we will record the details required for our guest register.
11Activities and add-ons
Activities such as game drives, sundowners, bush dinners, nature walks, cultural tours and hot air balloon safaris are booked with your stay or at camp.
- Some activities are run by trusted outside operators. Their own terms and safety rules also apply.
- Activities depend on weather, park rules and wildlife conditions. If one cannot go ahead, we will offer another time, an alternative or a refund for that activity.
- Please follow every safety briefing and the instructions of your guide, driver or pilot at all times.
- Some activities have age, health or fitness limits. Please tell us about any medical conditions before you book.
12Safety in the wild
Nyati is close to Amboseli National Park, and wild animals roam freely in the area. For your safety:
- Stay within the camp grounds unless you are with a guide or on an organised activity.
- Do not walk around camp alone after dark. Ask our staff to escort you.
- Never approach, feed or disturb wild animals.
- Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
- Follow any instructions from our staff about safety and security.
13Camp rules and conduct
We want every guest to enjoy the peace of the bush. Please respect other guests, our staff, the local community and the environment.
- Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor areas. Never smoke inside tents or rooms.
- Keep noise to a minimum, especially at night.
- Illegal drugs, weapons and any unlawful activity are not allowed at camp.
- You are responsible for any damage to camp property caused by you or your group, beyond normal wear and tear.
We may ask anyone who puts others at risk, or behaves in a seriously abusive or unlawful way, to leave the camp without a refund.
14Your belongings
Please keep valuables, passports and cash secure and with you, or ask reception about safe storage. Except where the law says otherwise, we are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings left unattended or in tents and rooms.
15Health, insurance and travel documents
You are responsible for having valid travel documents, visas and any vaccinations or health certificates you need for Kenya, and for your own health during your trip.
- We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering medical care, emergency evacuation, cancellation and personal belongings.
- Please tell us about any medical conditions, allergies or dietary needs before you arrive so we can prepare.
- In an emergency, we will help you reach medical care. Any costs are your responsibility.
16Our liability
We take care in running the camp and choosing the partners we work with. To the extent allowed by Kenyan law:
- we are not liable for loss, injury or damage caused by your own actions, by people we are not responsible for, or by events beyond our reasonable control;
- we are not liable for indirect losses such as missed connections or loss of enjoyment caused by matters outside our control;
- our total liability to you in connection with a booking is limited to the amount you paid us for that booking.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Kenyan law.
17Events beyond our control
We are not responsible for failing to provide a service because of events beyond our reasonable control, such as severe weather, floods, natural disasters, epidemics, government or park restrictions, civil unrest, strikes or road closures. If this happens, we will work with you to rearrange your stay or offer a fair alternative.
18Complaints
If something is not right during your stay, please tell our staff or the camp manager straight away so we can fix it while you are with us. If you are still unhappy, write to us within 28 days of your departure and we will respond as quickly as we can.
19Website content
The text, photos, logos and design of this website belong to Nyati Safari Camp or are used with permission. You may share links to our pages, but please do not copy or reuse our content without written permission.

20Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. We will always try to resolve any disagreement with you directly first. If we cannot, the courts of Kenya will have jurisdiction.
21Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your booking is the one in place on the date we confirm it. The “Last updated” date at the top shows the latest version.
